Analytics
What the numbers mean and why they arrive with a delay.
Where to find it
Open Venom Analytics from the sidebar. It needs at least one connected account, so connect Instagram or LinkedIn first. See Connect Instagram and LinkedIn. The page covers posts published through GrowVenom and posts you made directly on the platform, which we sync for analytics.
Choosing a date range
Pick 7D, 30D, 3M, 6M or 1Y, or set a custom range. The page always compares your range with the previous range of the same length, so 30D is compared with the 30 days before it. When there is no earlier data to compare with, the change shows as a dash instead of a made-up number.
What the numbers mean
| Number | What it is |
|---|---|
| Reach | How many distinct accounts saw your content. Instagram reports reach. LinkedIn does not, and reports impressions instead. |
| Impressions | How many times your content was shown. One person can account for several. |
| Engagement | Interactions on your posts, such as likes, comments, shares and saves, as the platform counts them. |
| Engagement rate | Engagement divided by followers, worked out day by day. It lets you compare periods when your audience size has changed. |
| Followers and follower gain | Followers is your latest total. Follower gain is how many were added over the range. Audience growth plots both over time. |
Because Instagram reports reach and LinkedIn does not, a single combined engagement rate would be misleading when both accounts are connected. In that case the rate card is hidden. Use the platform filter to look at one account at a time.
The rest of the page
- Reach and engagement: a trend line for the range.
- Engagement by format: how your post formats compare.
- Top performing posts: click a post to see its detail.
- Best time to post: average engagement for each day and three-hour slot, based on your post history, with the strongest slot marked.
- Hashtags: how posts using each hashtag performed.
- Worth boosting: recent posts doing much better than your typical post. GrowVenom does not run ads. If you want to boost one, do it in the Instagram app.
- Insights: short takeaways written from the numbers on screen.
Use the download button to export what you are looking at as an Excel workbook or a CSV file.
Why the data arrives late
- We pull metrics from Instagram and LinkedIn once a night, so today's activity shows up tomorrow. The “Last snapshot” time at the bottom of the page tells you when we last collected.
- A new post usually needs about a day before it appears. Until then the page says there is no analytics yet.
- Platforms keep updating a post's numbers for days after it goes live, so recent figures can still rise.
- Charts start from the day we first collected data for your account, shown as “data since”. A longer range than that will look short on the left.
- After you disconnect an account, its analytics are kept for 30 days and then deleted. Reconnect within that time and the history is still there.
Numbers on the platform itself can differ slightly from ours, because of timing and because each platform applies its own rules.
